Updated Announcement: Information for Self-Represented Litigants

The 293rd District Court is committed to ensuring that all individuals have access to the legal system. However, as a District Court, we are prohibited by law from providing legal advice, assisting with the completion of legal documents or forms, or answering legal questions. Court staff cannot interpret laws, provide legal opinions, recommend legal strategies, or advise individuals on how the law applies to their specific case.

We understand that the legal process can be complex, lengthy, and sometimes overwhelming. While we strongly encourage all individuals to seek legal representation from a licensed attorney, we recognize that some individuals choose to represent themselves. If you decide to proceed without an attorney, the following resources may be helpful:

Virtual Court Kiosks

Find Legal Help Near You

Self-represented litigants may also access Virtual Court Kiosks, provided by the Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC), located throughout Texas. These kiosks offer limited assistance in navigating legal procedures and virtual court appearances.

At a Virtual Court Kiosk, individuals can:

  • Attend Virtual Court Hearings – Kiosks provide private spaces and access to virtual courtrooms.
  • Virtual Court Navigators may assist with technical difficulties but do not provide legal advice.
  • Learn About Legal Processes & File Forms Online – Resources on navigating virtual court procedures and submitting court documents electronically.
  • Access General Legal Information – Browse self-help materials and legal research tools related to various legal issues.
  • Seek Assistance from Legal Aid Organizations – Some kiosks facilitate connections with external legal aid organizations that may offer free or low-cost legal advice by appointment.
